Victor Tolubiev
Howes was born in 1822. Baptised 22/11/1822 in Great Yarmouth,
Norfolk.
His parents were: Hortensia Howes (nee Libbis) and John (James)
Howes. In 1854 he married Sarah
Howard (nee Young) in Stepney, Middlesex.
This
strange name Victor Toloubioff Howes get after his cousin
Victor Touloubieff (1804-1823), son of
Hortensia Libbis and Russian seaman
Nikolay Touloubieff. "Prototype" Victor
Touloubieff graduated from the
Royal Marine College at Portsmouth (the
only foreigner in the history
of the College), sailed on frigate Active
under the command of Sir Alexander
James Gordon, and died in London aged 19.
But it is another
story...

Died 30/08/1907, aged 84 years. Buried at Thurlton graveyard
together with his wife Sarah (1910)

This Diary describes the voyage of Chinese junk Little Catherine
from Singapore to Hong Kong that ended by wreck in Tonquin Bay.
Victor Howes was detained by Chinese Administration and was released
in 1848 after British Foreign Office interference.
